Why can’t I join a team?
- Here are a few questions and answers as to why you might be having trouble joining a team:
- Are you logged in as a registered user? In order to join a team, you must either login or register a new user on the website (step 1 of the registration process). After you login/create a new user, you can join existing teams (step 2 of the registration process).
- Do you have the correct gender set under your user profile? Having the wrong gender specified will display teams for the wrong league type.
- Are you using one of the supported browsers? Please make sure you are using a recent version of firefox, internet explorer, safari or chrome.
- Are you already part of a team for that league? You can’t register for more than one team on the same league night. You can however be part of 2vs2 men’s/women’s and 2vs2 mixed.
- Make sure you are not logged in using your partners account. Each player must have their own separate account. If you don't already have your own account, make sure you are logged out and create a new user. After you created a new user, you can join existing teams (step 2 of the registration process).
- Are you still having issues? Email us at admin@oovb.com with your name/userid and the name of the team you are trying to join and we will help you identify the problem.
When and how do I pay?
- We ask that players pay online via Paypal, email money transfers or cheques. Your spot in the league will not be secured until we have received payment.
I am wondering if my team can include 3 players?
- Yes, you can have a team of 3 players, and switch up a player every week. However, only the 2 same players can play on one day (you can't sub in). So you should probably organise who comes every week. If you want to make a team of 3, just get everybody to join the team on the website.
Can a mixed team compose of two female players?
- No, a mixed team has to be 1 female and 1 male. Have a look at the spares page to see if you can find a suitable partner.
When is the deadline for signing up to league X?
- The deadline for registration is Tuesday May 20 or until the limit of teams for that league has been reached - which ever happens first.
How do i go about joining if i am a single player?
- Have you tried to finding a partner in the spares section under the “Teams” tab? If you still can’t find a match, you can sign up on the spares page as either a spare or a player looking for another player. In order to do this, click on the “register” link on the top bar or on the home page. From there you must either login or register a new user on the website (step 1 of the registration process). After you login/create a new user, you can join register as spare (step 2 of the registration process).
Does every player need to register or just the team captain?
- Every player needs to register and join a team. The captain is in charge of getting their teammates to register and join his team. Your team must be complete before the leagues start (we need every player to accept the waiver in the registration process before they are allowed to play).
What's your refund policy?
- There are no refunds after the first league games. A 20$ admin fee will be incurred for a refund before the first league games.
When should i show up on the first day?
- All players will receive an email one week before the leagues start informing you to arrive at least 30 minutes early on Tuesday for 2vs2 Womens and 2vs2 Mens or Wednesdays 2vs2 for Mixed. There will be a quick meeting to review how the leagues run and a brief recap of the rules.
When will we have our first meeting and when will the schedule be posted?
- The meeting is on the first night your team is scheduled to play. The schedule is always the same either Tuesdays for 2vs2 Womens and 2vs2 Mens or Wednesdays 2vs2 Mixed. All leagues start at 6pm.
Can I be on as many teams as I want?
- You can only be on 2 different teams. The first would be 2vs2 Mixed on Wednesdays. The second would either be 2vs2 Womens or 2vs2 Mens on Tuesdays.
What happens when games are rained out.
- If it happens that a night is rained out, all games on that night will be rescheduled for next week.
How do we know if games are cancelled?
- Light rain will not cancel games. The only way a game will be cancelled is if there is currently a storm/lightning going on or it has been raining for a week and everything is muddy. There will be a message on the website saying so 45 minutes before games.
I can't play this week, what do I do?
- Please let us know at admin@oovb.com so we can mark your team as away and plan tiers ahead. Your team will drop down a tier.
My team will be 30+ minutes late, what do I do?
- Unless you can arrange with the other teams to play last, your team will be forfeiting your sets.
How does it work if we need a spare? Do they need to sign up on the site? Do they need to pay a fee? Do we need to advise you when a spare is coming?
- Spares play for free and they don't have to sign up on the site. You don't need to let us know when a spare is coming. We only need to know if your full team won't be coming so that we can adjust the tiers before the games. If you have one original member of the team and one spare playing, your team plays as normal. If you can't find any spares and your team doesn't make it for one night, you get bumped down a tier. If neither of your original team members can make it that night, but you have found two spares for your team, your team cannot move up a tier, but can stay in the same tier (provided you won enough games). Women can only replace women and men can only replace men. Also, spares have the option of signing up to the website and signing the spares list if they want to be contacted to spare for teams once in a while. (Again, no charge for this).
Do you have any age requirements?
- All players must be 14 years old or older to join the league. Some exemptions can be made; please email us to discuss any special circumstances. Players under 18 will need parental consent before they can register.
